Why Community Groups?

Here at The Pines Church our Community Groups are the center piece of our ministry. Our Saturday evening service is a celebration of what happens during the week for us. It is important for you to be with us on Saturday but our desire is that you will be plugged into a Community Group and start growing with your group.

We pursue and live out gospel-centered community through our Community Groups. Made up of men and women from all generations of life, these groups meet throughout the week for fellowship, care, prayer, accountability, sharing stories and studying God’s Word. They’re a place where we work to consider each other over ourselves. No group is perfect, and no two groups are exactly the same. We don’t expect them to be. Because people are messy, groups are messy.

How to get plugged in?

Getting plugged in is easy. You can sign up at our Connections Table on Saturday evenings. All our groups are open and this is purposeful. We don’t want to “place” you in a group; we want you to find a group that fits you.

What if you have kids?

If you have kids there is no need to worry about finding a sitter so you can hang out with your group on whatever night you meet. Part of doing life together as stated above is getting into the “messy” sometimes. And yes kids are a gift that we have been given but let’s be honest things can get a bit messy. Our Community Groups will be for the entire family. Your kids are welcome to come and be a part of that time, in fact we encourage it. Let them see you studying God’s Word, let them at times hear your conversations. We want this time to be genuine and real, and what better way for that to happen than for others to see us as we truly are.

All our groups start with the entire family but some groups offer childcare at a neighbors house and some groups have a sitter play games with the kids upstairs. No two groups are alike when it comes to the kids. However we want to discussion time to be as free from distractions as possible but we know that experiencing distractions are a part of life.
